      July 13, 2026 17:59 Incidents A Nizhny Novgorod police officer, who sustained a knife wound while performing his official duties, died in the hospital. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod region. The incident occurred on July 9 on the street of Old Manufacturers in Nizhny Novgorod. The police officer arrived there to take a local resident, who is a witness in a criminal case, to the department. On the way to the department, the woman suddenly slashed the officer's neck with a knife and fled. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case regarding this incident. The attacker has been detained. She is in custody. Doctors at one of the hospitals fought for the life of the victim - Police Captain Sergey Murigin. They were unable to save the man.
