Fraudsters stole nearly 200,000 rubles from a woman in Nizhny Novgorod, using her 13-year-old son.

      In police department No. 4 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, a statement was received from a 51-year-old resident of the city. The woman reported the theft of funds from her bank accounts. Preliminary investigations have established that the 13-year-old son of the applicant was communicating with an unknown person in one of the messengers, who promised to help him purchase a computer game on an online gaming platform. Under this pretext, the criminals convinced the teenager to provide the details of three bank cards belonging to his mother. After gaining access to the account details, the fraudsters withdrew 192,000 rubles from the applicant's accounts. A criminal case has been initiated by the investigation under part two of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The sanction of this article provides for a punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment. The Nizhny Novgorod police remind: conduct regular conversations with children about Internet safety rules. A child must clearly understand that they should not share bank card details, codes from SMS messages, or personal information with strangers. Limit minors' access to mobile banking applications and keep bank cards in places inaccessible to children.
