The municipal enterprise of Pervomaisk will pay more than 1.5 million rubles for damage to the river.
June 29, 2026 15:20 Society The Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region supported the claims of the Interregional Office of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia for the recovery of damages from the May Day Municipal Enterprise "Rainbow". This concerns the damage caused to the Umoch River. The enterprise operates wastewater treatment facilities that were previously reconstructed under the federal project "Health Improvement of the Volga". However, the company has been repeatedly held administratively liable for violations of environmental legislation and failure to comply with the supervisory authority's directives. Inspections in February and July 2025 again revealed exceedances of permissible discharges. Specialists recorded elevated levels of iron, manganese, copper, and other pollutants. It was also established that the wastewater from the enterprise negatively affects the condition of the Umoch River. Based on the inspection results, Rosprirodnadzor experts calculated the amount of damage. The sum exceeded 1.5 million rubles. The enterprise refused to voluntarily compensate for the damage. After reviewing the case materials, the court concluded that the violation of water legislation was proven. As a result, the Municipal Enterprise "Rainbow" was ordered to pay the full amount of damage caused to the river. It was previously reported that the administration of Nizhny Novgorod issued a directive due to the condition of the Petryaevsky drainage channel.
