Nizhny Novgorod residents will be able to buy transport cards for one and two trips in stores.
On June 29, 2026, at 14:31, Society. Residents of Nizhny Novgorod will be able to purchase transport cards for one or two trips in grocery stores. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways of the region, Denis Ryabinin, at a press conference on June 29, as reported by a correspondent from NIA "Nizhny Novgorod."
Let us remind you that from July 1, cash payments will be completely abolished in public transport in the regional center. According to the Deputy Minister, there will be no radical changes for most passengers—currently, 96% of Nizhny Novgorod residents pay in a cashless form.
At present, transport cards can be purchased and topped up in the metro, at the Moscow railway station, and at the TPU "Kanavinsky," in the branches of Russian Post, and in printing kiosks. Starting in July, cards designed for one and two trips will be available for sale. They can be purchased in the "Smart" and "Spar" retail chains.
It is expected that by August 1, such cards will also be available for purchase in "Magnit" and "Pyaterochka." The introduction of this innovation in these large federal chains was delayed due to a longer approval process.
Drivers, when I arrived, said that they are simply marking off days in the calendar until July 1. They wholeheartedly support not having to deal with cash, Denis Ryabinin said.
