A foreigner wanted by federal authorities was detained in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      On June 29, 2026, at 16:11 Society During the operation "Illegal-2026" in the Nizhny Novgorod region, police discovered a foreigner who was on the federal wanted list. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region. During the first stage of the operation from June 1 to June 10, checks were conducted at the residences and workplaces of foreign citizens. Special attention was paid to identifying individuals engaged in fictitious registration for migration accounting. Over ten days, police and other agencies identified 1,120 violations of migration legislation. Seventy-nine people were detained, and another 90 foreigners were taken to police stations for verification. Most often, violations of entry and residence rules in Russia, illegal work, and fictitious registration were recorded.

      As a result of the checks, courts issued 190 decisions on administrative expulsion from the country. A decision was made to ban 218 individuals from entering Russia. Four decisions on deportation were also made, three of which have already been executed. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate additionally identified 32 administrative offenses committed by foreign drivers. Furthermore, 98 materials were registered for signs of crimes related to illegal migration and document forgery. Sixty-one criminal cases were initiated. This includes six facts of organizing illegal migration, four of which have already led to criminal cases being opened.
