Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region will have an easier time receiving benefits starting July 1.

      Starting July 1, 2026, residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region will find it easier to receive certain social benefits. The Social Fund of Russia will use information already stored in individual personal accounts of citizens.

      The changes will affect sick leave payments, maternity and childbirth benefits, monthly childcare allowances for children up to one and a half years old, and one-time payments upon the birth of a child.

      RIA Novosti reported on the new procedure by Igor Balynin, an associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of Russia. According to him, citizens will not need to provide information that is already in the Social Fund system again.

      Previously, to calculate benefits, the fund could separately request documents and information from the employer after the occurrence of an insured event. For example, this happened after an employee went on sick leave.

      Starting July 1, payments will primarily be calculated based on the data from the individual personal account of the insured person. The employer will only be contacted if the existing information is insufficient.

      For residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region, this means a reduction in the number of additional requests and a more automated processing of payments. At the same time, the list of benefits and the grounds for receiving them remain unchanged.

      Igor Balynin noted that the new rules continue the reform of the social security system that began in 2022. Its goal is to simplify the interaction of citizens with government agencies using already collected data.
