The restoration of the historic Samgin House has been completed in Nizhny Novgorod.
On June 26, 2026, at 10:37 AM, Culture and Leisure In Nizhny Novgorod, the restoration of the "Samgin House" on Sennaya Square has been completed. The building has been put into operation. This was reported by Governor Gleb Nikitin on his Max channel. The regional head called this event significant. Nikitin noted that as early as 2018, the property was in a terrible state and attracted attention in the very center of the city, where large flows of people and transport pass daily. The regional head emphasized that he immediately began to personally address the issue. The most challenging aspect turned out to be the legal knot: bankruptcies of legal entities, court disputes over resettlement and eviction, schemes involving buybacks, as well as the fight against numerous fraudulent actions. All residential premises had different statuses and degrees of legal purity. The situation was complicated by a fire that occurred almost four years ago, as a result of which the building was seriously damaged. Nevertheless, the work was successfully completed. The historic house was recreated based on historical photographs and surviving blueprints. The governor added that more than 100 years ago, the "Samgin House" significantly influenced the formation of the development of Sennaya Square and defined its architectural appearance. Today, the building is once again becoming one of the key symbols of this territory.
It should be noted that the restoration of the Samgin House was part of a unified project for the restoration of two historical buildings, which also included the Chardymov House, which has the status of a cultural heritage site. It is also a monument of architecture from the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau style with characteristic carved elements - it is planned to be restored while preserving the original walls, facades, and decorative details. Unlike it, the Samgin House, lost as a result of the fire, was essentially rebuilt from scratch, but with adherence to the stylistics of the era and previous volumetric-spatial solutions. The reconstruction work on both buildings began in 2025. It was previously reported that their opening is scheduled for the summer of this year. It has also become known that more than 870 cultural heritage sites have been restored in the Nizhny Novgorod region since 2018. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
