      The Rospotrebnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod region reported that as of June 22, there have been 4,420 appeals to medical institutions regarding tick bites, including 1,225 children. The highest number of bites was recorded in the Bor (259) and Dzerzhinsk (269) urban districts, Vetluzhsky (229) and Pavlovsky districts (259), as well as in the Avtozavodsky (219), Prioksky (301), and Soviet (238) districts of Nizhny Novgorod. In 36% of cases, ticks were attached in household and garden plots, in 16% – in the forest, and in 10.5% – in parks and squares. Two cases of tick-borne viral encephalitis were registered among unvaccinated adults. The infections occurred in the Gorodetsky and Vetluzhsky districts. Eighteen cases of Ixodes tick-borne borreliosis were also identified in Nizhny Novgorod, Shakhunya, and six municipal districts. A total of 5,842 ticks were laboratory tested, with positive findings at 19.4% (12 ticks with encephalitis, 906 with borrelia, 29 with ehrlichia, 191 with anaplasma). Emergency prophylaxis with immunoglobulin was administered to 703 people, including 684 children. Acaricide treatments were conducted on 99.8% of the planned area (4,496 hectares), including in summer camps. A total of 13,260 people were vaccinated against encephalitis (166% of the plan), including 2,316 children.
