The police found children who damaged more than 50 monuments in the cemetery in Vyksa.
On June 23, 2026, at 11:42, Incidents: Police quickly identified the minors who damaged gravestones at the cemetery in the working settlement of Doschatoye in Vyksa. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.
The report of the damage to the memorials was received by the police on June 22 from a local resident. An investigative operational group was dispatched to the scene, where they discovered 54 memorials and crosses overturned and broken by vandals.
The culprits turned out to be three boys and one girl aged nine and ten. The children were taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Vyksa, where officers from the juvenile affairs department questioned them in the presence of their legal representatives and guardianship authorities.
Two minors were placed in a social rehabilitation center. According to the children, they were passing through the cemetery and, while playing, struck the structures on the graves.
The police identified 16 individuals whose relatives are buried in the places where the memorials were damaged. Statements have been taken from them. An investigation is currently underway. Based on its results, a legal assessment will be made of the actions of the minors and their parents.
