A sketch of a new Catholic church in the center of Nizhny Novgorod has been published.

      On June 23, 2026, 13:21 Society Nizhny Novgorod residents were shown a sketch of a Catholic church that is planned to be recreated in the Student Quarter. The image was published in the community "Catholics of Nizhny Novgorod" on VKontakte.

      Let us remind you that the historical shrine will appear on the site of house No. 8 on Studenaya Street. At the end of last year, the building where the main Catholic church was located before the revolution was returned to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish.

      Judging by the published sketch, the heart of Studenaya, or as it is also called, the Catholic Quarter, will be a church in the Gothic style.

      As the rector Georgy explained, the architectural concept aims to recreate the historical appearance of the church as it was in the 1910s. The design work will last several months, and the implementation of the engineering and construction phase is estimated to take about a year.

      According to the clergyman, the first stage of work will be to conduct an engineering and technical survey of the building. After that, specialists will begin restoring the heating, water supply, and electricity systems.
