The Public Headquarters for Election Monitoring has started its work in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
June 22, 2026 13:48 Politics The first meeting of the Public Headquarters for Election Monitoring took place in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The meeting was dedicated to preparations for the September electoral campaign: participants approved the structure of the headquarters and discussed how the work will be organized.
Let us remind you that on June 16, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, signed a decree on the appointment of elections for deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In addition, last week, the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region appointed elections for regional deputies. They will take place on September 20.
According to the head of the Public Headquarters, Chairman of the Regional Public Chamber Roman Strongin, the campaign will take place in the context of a fierce information war.
"We see that during it, for our adversaries, there are no and will be no forbidden methods. They will look for any reason to declare the election results illegitimate. In this situation, the role of public monitoring increases immeasurably. The work ahead is complex and responsible, but we are not newcomers in this matter, I am confident that we will manage," Strongin stated.
In the region, preparations have already begun for training observers who will work at each polling station. During the campaign, it is planned to use all the tools that have previously proven effective. This includes the operation of a "hotline," mobile groups from the headquarters, organizing video surveillance at the precinct election commissions, as well as the "Observer NO" streaming studio and other control formats.
Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Yevgeny Semyonov, reported that an electoral expert group has begun work at the headquarters. It will consult observers on emerging issues and also participate in round tables on relevant topics.
It was previously reported that voting in the State Duma elections will take place over three days—from September 18 to 20. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
