Nizhny Novgorod region entered the top 20 in the number of applications for the competition "My country - my Russia."

The results of the application campaign for the XXIII season of the All-Russian competition "My Country - My Russia" of the Presidential platform "Russia - a Land of Opportunities" have been summarized. The competition is part of the national project "Youth and Children." In the new season, more than 80,000 people from all regions of Russia presented their projects, including 904 residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The competition traditionally brings together proactive citizens ready to propose solutions for the development of their cities, villages, and regions. Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region annually rank among the active participants in the project, offering initiatives aimed at developing education, social spheres, preserving historical memory, and ecological and cultural projects. Over 23 years of its existence, the competition has formed a community of more than one million participants. Today, "My Country - My Russia" remains one of the largest platforms for supporting initiatives aimed at the development of cities, villages, and regions of the country. In 2026, the competition was included in the Plan of main events for the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, which was reflected in one of the key nominations of the season - "Unity of the Peoples of My Country." "For the Presidential platform, it is important to create opportunities that help people not only propose ideas but also find support for their implementation. That is why the competition 'My Country - My Russia' has been uniting proactive citizens ready to participate in the development of their cities, villages, and regions for many years. This year, more than 80,000 people applied to participate - almost 8% more than the previous year. It is especially important that the competition covers all regions of the country, confirming the high level of engagement of Russians in addressing territorial development issues. Every year, we see how participants' projects become real solutions for territorial development, and the authors themselves gain new competencies, professional connections, and growth opportunities. I am confident that this season the competition will unveil many bright projects capable of benefiting the regions and the entire country," said Oksana Achkasova, Deputy General Director of the Presidential platform "Russia - a Land of Opportunities." The majority of participants in the XXIII season were traditionally young people aged 14 to 35 - 64,724 people, or over 80% of the total number of contestants. The authors presented projects in 12 nominations of the competition, covering a wide range of directions for the development of Russian territories - from education and science to ecology, digital transformation, strengthening interethnic unity, and developing local communities. The most interest was generated by the nominations "My Pedagogical Initiative," which brought together 18,145 participants, "Unity of the Peoples of My Country" - 9,944 participants, and "My Small Homeland. My City, My Village" - 9,066 participants. About 18% of the contestants were representatives of the older generation, actively participating in the nominations without age restrictions "My Pedagogical Initiative" and "My Family: Continuity, Values, and Meanings." The youngest participants under 13 years old presented their works in a special nomination "Fairy Tales of the Peoples of My Country," which included 1,272 authors. This intergenerational format allows for the unification of experience, knowledge, and initiative from representatives of different ages around a common task - the development of their small homeland and country. After the application campaign concludes, projects move on to the expert evaluation stage. Each application will be reviewed by at least three independent experts, and based on the evaluation results, the 300 best participants of the season will be determined. "For us, it is important that participation in the competition becomes not a final point but the beginning of a long journey. Today, a strong community of participants, experts, mentors, and partners has formed around the project, which helps initiative authors find like-minded people, receive support, and develop their projects. We see how many competition works go far beyond their municipalities and regions, turning into successful practices at the federal level. That is why we pay special attention to the post-competition support program, which opens new opportunities for professional and personal growth for participants," noted Dmitry Turlakov, head of the executive directorate of the All-Russian competition "My Country - My Russia." Winners and finalists of the competition will have the opportunity to continue developing their projects within special educational and career programs. The award ceremony for the winners and prizewinners of the II age category (18-35 years) will take place in October at the National Center "Russia" in Moscow. After the competition season concludes, finalists and winners will be invited to the post-competition support program in Yelets - the holder of the status "City of Youth" for 2026, where the educational forum "My Country. My Pride. My Small Homeland" will be held. Additionally, winners will be offered internship programs from AFC "System," as well as cash prizes and special awards from the nomination partners. Winners of the I age category (14-17 years) will participate in an interdisciplinary project shift at the All-Russian Children's Center "Ocean" in Vladivostok, where their formal award ceremony will take place. The authors of the best initiatives will also be able to apply for grant support from the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) of up to 1 million rubles.
