An Nizhny Novgorod man received eight years for the brutal murder of a woman on the street.

      June 21, 2026 13:13 Incidents The court found a 25-year-old resident of Bogorodsk guilty of the brutal murder of a woman. This was reported by the unified press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The tragedy occurred in early December of last year on Chernyshevsky Street. The accused, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, had an argument with the woman and inflicted multiple blows to her head and torso with a blunt object. After that, he knocked his victim to the ground and strangled her. Immediately after committing the murder, the young man went to the police station to confess. During the court hearing, he fully admitted his guilt, expressed remorse, apologized to the victim's relatives, and covered the burial expenses. A criminal case has been initiated under part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder). The man was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime correctional colony. He was also ordered to pay 3.8 million rubles in compensation for moral damages to the family of the deceased. The sentence has not yet entered into legal force.
