More than 460 thousand trees were planted in the Nizhny Novgorod region as part of the "Garden of Memory" campaign.

It is traditionally held in memory of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife Protection. "This year, about two thousand residents of Nizhny Novgorod paid tribute to the heroes by planting more than 460 thousand seedlings of coniferous trees. Every year, more and more people unite around the initiative not just to plant trees, but to restore the forests that have fed, protected, and inspired our generations for centuries. The 'Garden of Memory' is not just an action, but a manifestation of civic position and patriotism. By caring for the forests today, we preserve the natural heritage for future generations, strengthen our connection to the native land, and honor the memory of those who defended this land," noted the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife Protection of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Roman Vorobyov. The "Garden of Memory" action is implemented as part of the national project "Environmental Well-Being" and plays an important role in the restoration of forests in the Russian Federation. A total of 35 forest plots with a total area of more than 116 hectares were selected on the lands of the forest fund of the Nizhny Novgorod region, where seedlings of common pine and spruce were planted. Members of the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, representatives of local self-government bodies, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, employees of school forestry, members of public organizations, and volunteers participated in the action. "The 'Garden of Memory' action is unique in that it combines patriotism and ecology. For the Nizhny Novgorod 'Volunteers of Victory,' it is an opportunity not only to honor the memory of heroes but also to make a real contribution to the restoration of forests. Every planted tree is part of the national heritage that will grow and strengthen, reminding future generations of the feats of our ancestors," shared her opinion Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory." Over the past seasons of the "Garden of Memory," more than seven thousand residents of Nizhny Novgorod have participated in the action, planting over three million young trees. The international action is organized by the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization "Garden of Memory," the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory," and the Fund for the Memory of the Generals of Victory with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation, and the Federal Forestry Agency.
