The first healthy longevity center in the Nizhny Novgorod region welcomed 200 people.

June 19, 2026 16:19 Society The City Polyclinic No. 7 in Nizhny Novgorod has been operating the first Center for Healthy Longevity in the region since April 2026. Its specialists identify risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases, conduct in-depth examinations of patients, and help adjust lifestyles to maintain health and prevent premature aging. The center is based at the Health Center and is located in the outpatient department No. 1 on Verkhne-Pecherskaya Street, 6. Residents of the region attached to state polyclinics can get an appointment. Referrals are issued by therapists, endocrinologists, and specialists from preventive medicine departments, including during on-site examinations at enterprises. According to the chief physician of polyclinic No. 7, Elena Ovchinnikova, the main task of the new unit is to identify changes in the body's functioning that can lead to premature aging mechanisms and timely correction of these processes. She noted that the effectiveness of such work largely depends on the patient themselves and their willingness to follow the specialists' recommendations. The polyclinic has established a unified approach to monitoring individuals with risk factors. These include tobacco and electronic cigarette smoking, excess weight and obesity, low physical activity, poor nutrition, and alcohol abuse. Examination at the center begins with an expanded questionnaire. It allows for the assessment of a person's biological age, quality of sleep and life, levels of stress, anxiety, and depression, as well as the identification of possible cognitive impairments and eating behavior patterns. After this, patients undergo a comprehensive set of studies. Specialists assess muscle strength, joint flexibility, vascular condition, and body composition. Specialized modern equipment is used for this purpose. Then, a preventive medicine physician conducts a consultation based on all the obtained data. The patient is informed about their current health status and personalized recommendations are formed regarding nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and sleep quality improvement. If necessary, a second stage of examinations is assigned, including additional laboratory studies. Each visitor to the center is issued a personal "Health Passport." If indicated, patients are assigned further dispensary observation. According to the polyclinic, since the center began operating, about 200 people aged 18 to 79 have undergone examinations. Most of them are patients with obesity, oxidative stress, and metabolic disorders. The regional health ministry emphasized that the work of the Center for Healthy Longevity is based on the principles of continuous patient support and team interaction among specialists. All recommendations are formulated based on modern scientific data. The center operates within the framework of the national project "Long and Active Life," which aims to develop preventive medicine, increase the availability of quality medical care, and extend the population's lifespan. It was previously reported that a world-class Center for Longevity Studies will be established in the capital of the Volga region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
