      During operational-search activities, employees of the 3rd department of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region detained two unemployed local residents born in 1999 and 2004 near a house on Popova Street in the city of Dzerzhinsk. It was established that the detainees were in possession of prohibited substances with the intent to sell them. The criminal intent was not realized thanks to the prompt and competent actions of the police officers. During a personal search, two vacuum-sealed packages containing an unknown substance, a mobile phone, and a bank card were discovered and seized from the man born in 1999. According to the conclusion of forensic experts, the contents of one of the packages is a narcotic substance - marijuana, weighing 9.88 grams. Additionally, information confirming their involvement in the illegal drug trade in the region was found on the detainees' mobile devices. A criminal case has been initiated against the individuals based on the signs of crimes provided for by part 3 of article 30, paragraphs "a" and "b" of part 3 of article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempt to sell narcotic substances in significant amounts...). A preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for the offenders. The sanction of this article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to twenty years. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing. The illegal use of narcotic substances, psychotropic substances, and their analogs harms health; their illegal circulation is prohibited and entails liability established by law. Any facts of illegal circulation, use, and distribution of drugs can be reported by calling "02" or "102" (from a mobile phone), leaving an online appeal, or contacting the nearest police station.
