11 pines were planted on the Volga embankment in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the "Garden of Memory" campaign.

      On June 18, 2026, at 13:14, Society. On the eve of the Day of Memory and Sorrow, a new alley of 11 mountain pines appeared on the Volga embankment in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the international action "Garden of Memory" of the national project "Ecological Well-Being." In the region, the event was organized by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Organization of the All-Russian Public Movement "Volunteers of Victory" in collaboration with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The event was attended by Natalia Belkina, Deputy Head of the Administration of the Kanavinsky District, Lyudmila Kotikhina, Head of the Department of Housing and Utilities and Landscaping of the Kanavinsky District Administration, Georgy Fyodorichev, Acting Chairman of the Arbitration Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, employees of the Arbitration Court and the Nizhny Novgorod Ministry of Ecology, as well as volunteers and residents of the city.

      Young saplings appeared on the Volga embankment near the "Nizhny Novgorod" stadium as a living memorial to the heroes who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland during the Great Patriotic War. Each tree planted by the participants of the action will serve as a living reminder to the residents of Nizhny Novgorod of the heroism of the victorious generation.

      "Preserving the memory of heroes is just as important a mission as preserving our forests. Today, the participants of the action planted new trees that will not only be an element of the urban landscape but also a symbol of the connection between times. I am sure that Nizhny Novgorod residents walking along this alley will remember the deeds of their ancestors," emphasized Georgy Fyodorichev.

      The "Garden of Memory" action takes place annually in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. In 2026, it is planned to plant more than 400,000 seedlings of young trees over an area of 110 hectares.

      "For us, volunteers, it is very important that the memory of the war is not only in textbooks but also in the heart of every person. When we plant trees, we create living monuments. It is nice to see that today representatives of the authorities and city residents joined us — this means that the heroism of the victorious generation unites us. And we will continue this tradition by planting trees throughout the region," shared Maria Samodelkina, head of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Organization of the All-Russian Public Movement "Volunteers of Victory."

      Let us remind you that since 2025, the national project "Ecological Well-Being" has been in effect in Russia by the order of President Vladimir Putin, which fulfills tasks previously outlined in the national project "Ecology." The new national project aims to care for the environment and improve its comfort for human life. Work will be carried out in several directions: creating infrastructure for waste sorting and recycling, eliminating landfills and cleaning water bodies, preserving forests, reducing emissions into the atmosphere, as well as developing ecological tourism and preserving rare animal species.
