Nizhny Novgorod medics received awards for high work results.

On June 17, 2026, at 17:27 Society On June 17, a ceremony honoring medical workers of the region took place in Nizhny Novgorod at the site of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital. In the updated conference hall, those who demonstrated high work results and were awarded professional honors gathered. The solemn ceremony was organized in anticipation of the celebration of Russia's Medical Worker Day, which will be celebrated on June 21 this year.

Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Andrey Checherin, Minister of Health of the region Galina Mikhaylova, head of the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare in the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Shchukin, and director of the Territorial Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund of the region Oksana Shumaeva congratulated the doctors, nursing staff, and junior medical personnel on the upcoming holiday. Words of gratitude to all medical specialists were also addressed by deputy, head of the apparatus of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region (member of the United Russia party faction) Maxim Rebrov.

Andrey Checherin emphasized that the choice of the medical profession is a choice to serve people. Healthcare workers sacrifice much for the great goal of saving lives and preserving health. This mission requires true humanity, compassion, and kindness from the specialist.

"Our doctors often have to work in difficult conditions, coping with a high level of stress. Some help patients in peaceful life, while others are currently working in the area of the special military operation, fulfilling their military and professional duty to the Motherland. In anticipation of the holiday, I want to urge specialists not to forget to pay attention to their own health and the health of their loved ones. May all be well in your families! This is very important!" said the deputy governor.

Galina Mikhaylova, in her speech, noted the scale of the work of the region's medical professionals. "Today, almost 60,000 people work in the healthcare sector in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, including about 10,000 doctors and more than 25,000 mid-level specialists. Unfortunately, we do not have the opportunity to gather all colleagues in one large hall. We work around the clock: right now, most doctors are at their posts: some are performing surgeries, some are delivering babies, some are fighting for a patient's life in intensive care, while others are on duty at a patient's bedside. I want to sincerely congratulate all healthcare workers on the upcoming holiday. Dear colleagues, I wish you peace and good health! We thank you for your work not only on Medical Worker Day but every day, for helping each patient!" emphasized the minister.

A total of 30 specialists and teams from six medical institutions in the Nizhny Novgorod Region received awards for many years of conscientious work and high professional achievements. Letters of gratitude from the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region were presented to employees of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, city clinical hospitals No. 40, No. 5, and No. 34 of Nizhny Novgorod, as well as the Volga Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia.

Semashko was awarded the medal "For Strengthening Combat Brotherhood," and an oncologist from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary received the medal "For Mentorship in Healthcare."

"The medical profession requires special qualities of the soul: compassion, responsiveness, and sometimes real courage. We remember how during the coronavirus pandemic, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other specialists fought around the clock for people's lives. And thanks to their professionalism, the terrible infection retreated. We know for sure: the health and lives of Nizhny Novgorod residents are in reliable, caring hands! Dear medical professionals, thank you for all that you do for the well-being of your fellow citizens and your native region as a whole!" said Maxim Rebrov.

Colleagues who are participants in the Special Military Operation and the team of the Central City Hospital of Khartsyzsk, which is overseen by the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, also congratulated the Nizhny Novgorod medical professionals on their professional holiday. The medics recorded a video message in which they wished their colleagues professional success and grateful patients.

The culmination of the event was the presentation of honorary signs "Best Medical Dynasty of 2026." This year, the competition, organized by the regional Ministry of Health and the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of the Russian Federation, took place for the third time. As a result, three medical dynasties were awarded: Balalaikins, Shalenkovs - Belyaevs, and Abaymovs - Sidorovs. The awards were presented to the families by Galina Mikhaylova and the chairman of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of the region Vasily Prikaznov.
