      The meeting of the Coordination Council for Improving Financial Literacy of Citizens of the Nizhny Novgorod Region took place on June 16, 2026, chaired by Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov and Head of the Volga-Vyatka Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia Andrey Popov. The meeting summarized the results of the work for 2025 and discussed plans for 2026. Last year, about 15,000 educational events were held in the region — lectures, Olympiads, and classes for residents of different ages. Thematic performances "Financial Puzzle" and "I'll Call You Back" were staged, the project "Resident of the Capital of Financial Culture" continued, as well as the development of participatory budgeting, including the governor's project "It's Up to You." The coverage of residents by financial literacy events increased by almost 30% — from 1.4 to 1.8 million people. In 2026, the development of new educational and game formats is planned, work with schoolchildren, professional development for teachers, as well as the inclusion of financial literacy indicators in regional ratings for assessing municipalities. According to Andrey Popov, this year the implementation of projects for various target audiences will continue. In particular, training "Financial Creators" is planned in collaboration with KUPNO for participants in the "Leaders of Creative Industries" project, and an educational project for mothers on maternity leave with children up to three years old is being implemented. For schoolchildren, a program on economics and financial basics is being prepared in collaboration with HSE Nizhny Novgorod and the Center for Gifted Children. An information campaign on transport infrastructure is also being developed. The status of the Capital of Financial Culture was awarded to the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2025, presenting the digital project "Resident of the Capital of Financial Culture" (https://fincult.nobl.ru/). More than 77,000 people are registered on the portal, over 170 residents have received organizer status and conducted more than a thousand events. The Minister of Finance of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Olga Sulima, reported that regional initiatives are included annually in the federal catalog of best practices. This year, the "Resident of Financial Culture" platform and the interactive performance "Financial Puzzle" have been submitted for selection. The most active organizers were awarded letters of appreciation from the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin. Awards were received by Natalia Barabanova (Navashinsky District), Tatyana Kechaeva (Pilninsky District), Ekaterina Magaramova (Sharangsky District), Tatyana Matyugina (Vadsky District), Vachagan Ryabov (Bogorodsky District), Natalia Sotnikova (Navashinsky District), and Svetlana Shologon (Voskresensky District). Representatives of relevant agencies and partner banks were also recognized: Volga-Vyatka Bank of Sberbank, Nizhny Novgorod branch of Alfa-Bank, Volga Regional Center of SPAO "Ingosstrakh," and the branch of PJSC "Center-Invest."

      Among the initiatives being implemented are financial advice on regional television in the format of a weather forecast and a financial literacy course for civil servants, available to all interested parties. The "Resident of Financial Culture" portal continues to operate as an educational platform with news, training materials, and event announcements.
