The June session of the Nizhny Novgorod Legislative Assembly will take place a week earlier.

      The Committee of the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on issues of state power, local self-government, and regulations supported the draft resolution on the appointment of elections for deputies of the regional parliament of the eighth convocation. The committee meeting took place on June 15. Following the discussion, the deputies recommended adopting the document at the meeting of the Legislative Assembly, which will be held on June 18. According to the draft resolution, the elections for deputies of the regional parliament are proposed to be scheduled for September 20, 2026. It is planned that the voting will take place simultaneously with the elections for deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the Unified Voting Day, which is expected on September 20, 2026. The new composition of the Legislative Assembly will consist of 50 deputies. Half of them will be elected from single-member districts, while another 25 mandates will be distributed according to party lists. The speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Yevgeny Lyulin, noted that the decision to appoint the elections must be made within the timeframes established by law. "The decision to appoint elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region must be made no earlier than 100 days before the voting day and no later than 90 days before this date," emphasized Yevgeny Lyulin.
