Mobile pharmacies will start operating in Nizhny Novgorod villages from September 1.

      On June 16, 2026, at 14:08 Society From September 1, 2026, an experiment will begin in the Nizhny Novgorod region for the retail sale of medicines through mobile pharmacy points. This autumn, specialized vehicles will start arriving at sparsely populated and hard-to-reach villages and settlements at certain intervals. The vehicles will be modified based on the "Gazelle" chassis. Inside, there will be autonomous water supply, lighting, an electricity meter, a water heater, an air conditioner, a display case, and a pharmacy cabinet. The federal experiment will last three years - until September 1, 2029. The routes and schedules for the mobile points will be approved by the regional health ministry. Currently, the enterprise is working on these routes for subsequent submission to the ministry. In mobile pharmacies, it will be possible to purchase any medications except for: those containing narcotic, psychotropic substances, their precursors, and potent drugs; those subject to item-quantity accounting; radiopharmaceuticals and immunobiologicals (vaccines); those requiring storage below 15 degrees; alcoholic products with an ethanol content of more than 25%; those manufactured by pharmacy organizations. Medicines provided under federal and regional budget programs will also not be dispensed. The Nizhny Novgorod regional pharmacy emphasized that the project is primarily aimed at providing residents with essential medications with state price regulation. The standard pricing scheme of the state enterprise will apply to other medicines, so the cost in mobile pharmacies will not differ significantly from prices in the stationary network "State Pharmacy."
