The Nizhny Novgorod region won six awards at the International Competition "I Will Tell the World About My Homeland."

On June 11, 2026, 09:28 Society The Nizhny Novgorod region won six awards at the International Creative Works Competition "I Will Tell the World About My Homeland," which gathered 8,000 works from participants from 89 regions of Russia and 66 friendly countries. "I Will Tell the World About My Homeland" is an international project aimed at the patriotic education of children and youth, as well as strengthening friendly interethnic relations and developing cross-cultural communications between young people from Russia and other countries, which aligns with the priorities of the national project "Youth and Children." According to the organizers, participants in the competition, divided into four age groups, presented their videos, drawings, and presentations, in which they talked about Russia, while foreigners spoke about their home countries and their close ties and friendship with our country. In preparing their works, young competitors chose interesting events, traditions, and landmarks and shared them with their compatriots and foreign peers in Russian—mandatory for all participants—and any other language of their choice. This year, the winners of the competition included 62 representatives from 22 Russian regions and 18 foreign countries. "Participation, and especially winning in such a competition, is a high assessment of the educational sphere of our region. Among the winners are representatives from many other regions, each of whom excelled in their nomination and age category, but I proudly note that Nizhny Novgorod residents outnumber the others. This proves that our schoolchildren and students have something to say to the world and reasons to be proud of their small homeland and country," said the Minister of Education of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Mikhail Puchkov. In the nomination "Test Page-Presentation" in the age category from 7 to 10 years, the leader was Mikhail Vozyakov from School No. 47 in Nizhny Novgorod. In his presentation, he talked about the attractions of his hometown, located on the banks of two rivers. "In the process of creating the work, I was very surprised to learn that each of the attractions has its achievements and records. It was about them that I composed my story because I had never thought about what an amazing city I live in. I decided to add several of my own photos of my favorite places that I visited at different times of the year," Mikhail noted in the description of his work. In the same nomination, in the age category from 15 years, second place was taken by student Ivan Otopkov from the Pavlovsk Automobile Mechanical College named after I.I. Lepse. For the competition, he prepared a presentation about the Gorky defensive line, which ran through the Pavlovsk district. "In the fall of 1941, the Gorky defensive line, built by women and teenagers, passed through here. They chipped away at the frozen ground with pickaxes for ten hours a day, lighting fires for warmth. A recently found rusty pickaxe in the field is not just a piece of metal, but a symbol of the unyielding character of the people. This 'non-fighting trench' that stopped the enemy proves that the main armor of the country is its people. Today, along these lines, we are planting lilac alleys," Ivan said. In the special nomination for videos "The Heritage of My Small Homeland is the Heritage of Russia," the prize was awarded to Saveliy Lapshin, a student from School No. 127 in Nizhny Novgorod. In the special nomination for videos "For the Preservation and Popularization of the Traditions of the Peoples of Russia," the winner was the team "Nizhny Novgorod Guys" from Secondary School No. 3 in Dzerzhinsk. The guys created a cartoon dedicated to their own multinational team. The choice of theme is not accidental: 2026 has been declared the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The children decided to contribute by showing, through the example of their class, how important it is to value and respect differences and how this enriches our lives. In the special nomination for videos from the National Center "Russia," the best was the team of kids from Kindergarten No. 417 in Nizhny Novgorod. The kids talked about their "Kind Heart" campaign. As a result of the campaign, they collected over 2,000 kilograms of waste paper, and with the proceeds, they prepared packages with necessary items for soldiers. The competition "Tell the World About Your Homeland" had a separate focus on the role of mentors, and rewards were provided for them. This year's best mentor was Natalia Yeroshkina, the director's advisor on education at the Pavlovsk Automobile Mechanical College named after I.I. Lepse. She helped her students prepare 50 works for the competition. "I didn't have to ask or persuade the kids from our college to participate in the competition. My only function was to guide and give an ideological push to the participants. This shows that it is important for children to express their thoughts and feelings about their homeland. This is very pleasing and gives confidence that we are raising a responsible and strong young generation," said Natalia Yeroshkina. Let us remind you that the national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented since 2025 by the order of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia - a Country of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for the Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalism."
