Six families from Nizhny Novgorod reached the final of "Family of the Year - 2026."

      Six families became winners of the regional competition "Nizhny Novgorod Family" and advanced to the federal stage of the All-Russian competition "Family of the Year - 2026". The results were announced at the Ministry of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The competition has been held in the region since 2008. It aims to support families with children and strengthen family values and is one of the areas of the national project "Family". In 2026, 79 families from Nizhny Novgorod submitted applications to participate. The competition took place in a remote format: experts evaluated the portfolios and video presentations of the participants. Families competed in the categories "Large Family," "Golden Family," "Rural Family," "Family - Keeper of Traditions," "Young Family," and "Family of the Defender of the Fatherland." Three winners were determined in each category, with families that took first place advancing to the federal stage. In the "Large Family" category, due to the highest number of applications, five families were recognized as winners. The Minister of Social Development and Family Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Igor Sedykh, noted that the stories of the contestants reflect the traditions of mutual support and continuity in families and wished the finalists success in the next stage.

      Since 2025, by the order of President Vladimir Putin, a national project "Family" has been implemented in Russia, which combines the tasks of previously active national projects "Demography" and "Culture." It includes federal projects "Support for Families," "Family Values," "Culture for Families," "Pushkin Card," "Older Generation," "Protection of Motherhood and Childhood," and "Large Family."
