The landscaping of the area near the residential complex "Ships" may be completed ahead of schedule.

      On June 9, 2026, at 17:24 Society The Mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, checked the improvement of two major spaces that are being renovated this year under the program "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life," the city's administration press service reported.

      This concerns the green area opposite the residential complex "Korabli" in the Sormovsky district and the park on Kosmonavta Komarova Street in the Leninsky district.

      As noted by the city hall, the area near the residential complex "Korabli" was chosen by the residents themselves: about 9,000 people voted last year for the creation of a recreational area on the site of a wasteland. According to Shalabaev, the microdistrict is actively developing, many young families live here, so the demand for modern spaces for walking and sports was high.

      "According to the national project, we are improving an area of more than 25,000 square meters, where we will install a universal sports ground," noted Yuri Shalabaev.

      The public area will be used year-round: in summer, it will be possible to play football and basketball here, and in winter - hockey. In addition, a children's playground, a space for youth with table tennis tables, and a bike path leading to Svetloyarsky Park are planned. According to the city head, the contractor is working at a good pace, and the facility may be completed ahead of schedule.

      In the park on Kosmonavta Komarova Street, the improvement will cover more than 14,000 square meters. As the mayor noted, the space will become an extension of the previously renovated Jupiter Park.

      "We are trying to expand the improved areas to cover pedestrian routes and favorite leisure spots for Nizhny Novgorod residents with a unified concept," emphasized the city head.

      A new lighting system, a multifunctional sports ground with a safe surface, and tables for table tennis will be installed in the park. Landscaping and the installation of benches, swings, and stands are also planned. Further improvements are planned to continue.

      The work is on schedule. The old surface has been dismantled, a geogrid for the lawn has been laid, curbs are being installed, foundations for the sites are being prepared, asphalt and paving stones are being laid, cable is being laid, and lighting poles are being installed. At the same time, the bridge over the Borzovka River is being repaired. Soon, the planting of trees, shrubs, and flower beds will begin, and small architectural forms are being manufactured by Nizhny Novgorod producers.

      In total, under the national project, the improvement of seven public spaces is planned in "Greater Nizhny" in 2025. Yuri Shalabaev reported that work on the other five sites is on schedule or ahead of schedule. In particular, the pedestrian zone on Pobedy Avenue in Kstovo is already 70% ready.

      He also reminded that voting for the territories to be improved in 2027 continues until June 12. Residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region over 14 years old can participate on the portal zagorodsreda.gosuslugi.ru, by authorizing through the State Services and selecting one of the proposed public territories.
