      June 9, 2026 16:48 Society The Ministry of Digital Development of Russia and Roskomnadzor supported the lifting of restrictions on access to the online gaming platform Roblox (6+) in the country. The decision became possible after the completion of negotiations with the company regarding the protection of Russian users. As reported by the Ministry of Digital Development, the agency supports the operation of foreign digital platforms in the Russian market, provided they comply with Russian legislation. The ministry and Roskomnadzor are in direct dialogue with foreign services, including those whose activities were previously restricted due to legal violations. In early June, the parties completed the agreement on the conditions concerning the protection of the rights and interests of Russian Roblox users. The company acknowledged that the previously existing mechanisms for protecting children from harmful information were insufficiently effective. According to the Ministry of Digital Development, this allowed the dissemination of materials on the platform that promoted suicidal behavior, drug use, as well as content aimed at involving minors in illegal activities. As a result of consultations, Roblox provided the Russian side with guarantees for the implementation of additional safety measures for children and adolescents. These include both strengthening protection against harmful content and measures against undesirable user behavior. Already in June, the company plans to launch an age restriction system for access to games, categorizing content into Roblox Kids and Roblox Select. In addition, the corporation confirmed its readiness to combat the emergence and distribution of materials that could harm the health and development of children. In connection with the received guarantees, the Ministry of Digital Development and Roskomnadzor appealed to the authorized law enforcement agencies with a request to support the lifting of restrictions on access to the Roblox platform in Russia. It is worth noting that access to the platform has been restricted in Russia since December 2025.
