      June 5, 2026 15:59 Culture and Recreation A new 4G base station has been installed in the historic district of Nizhny Sloboda in Gorodets. After the additional equipment was launched, the average mobile internet speed here increased by 1.5 to 2 times. According to MTS, the improvements have affected pedestrian routes along the ancient streets, the Volga embankment, the Gorodets painting factory, the Church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, and School No. 13. Higher data transfer speeds are now available on Komsomolskaya, Mebelnaya, and Naberezhnaya streets. This will allow tourists and residents to comfortably use navigation, online guides, and share photos on social networks in real time. Gorodets traditionally ranks among the most popular destinations in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The network modernization in Nizhny Sloboda is part of the company's program to develop infrastructure in the region's tourist spots. As noted by MTS director in the region Andrey Belov, stable connectivity is especially important for travelers—for route planning, finding excursion schedules, cashless payments, and content publication.
