The IV All-Russian Festival "Childhood" will take place in Nizhny Novgorod.

From June 8 to 11, 2026, the A.M. Gorky State Museum, in collaboration with the Children's Theater "Vera," will hold the IV All-Russian Cultural and Educational Festival "Childhood" in Nizhny Novgorod. The festival takes place in the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and the "Five-Year Family" in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The main goal of the Festival is to promote literature and children's reading, develop theatrical art and museum work in Russia, and draw attention to the creativity of Maxim Gorky and other writers whose works feature the theme of childhood.

During the festival days, over 70 events will take place at 45 venues in the city: meetings with writers, museum educators, and theater figures, performances, exhibitions, thematic excursions, museum workshops for children, and theoretical tracks for specialists working with young visitors.

This year, more than 30 speakers from 6 regions of Russia will participate in the IV Festival "Childhood": museum specialists from Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, the Republic of Tatarstan, Perm, and Samara, who have children's museum programs and rich experience interacting with the younger generation, as well as writers and artists from Russia whose work is aimed at children. Guests of the festival will include children's writers Andrey Usachev (Moscow) and Galina Dyadina (Arzamas), Svetlana Krivoshlykova (Moscow), Elena Ulyeva (Moscow), Denis Sorokotyagin (Moscow), as well as Nina Dashevskaya (St. Petersburg), the author of the book "Theo - the Theater Captain," whose characters young Nizhny Novgorod residents will see in the premiere performance of the "Vera" theater.
