"Vacation is a time for personal growth": Margarita Ushakova spoke at the platform of the Knowledge Society
On June 3, 2026, at 15:30, the Society held lectures by the Russian Society "Knowledge" at the Childhood and Youth Festival "Festival of the First Movement" in the Nizhny Novgorod region, organized for Children's Day. The lecturer was Margarita Ushakova, the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
"Throughout the year, I conduct a series of meetings, including with minors from various categories. I talk about the protection of children's rights, various aspects of my activities, and answer the children's questions. However, speaking as a lecturer for the Society 'Knowledge' is an even greater responsibility for me. It is important not only to convey important information to the meeting participants but also to adapt it to the target audience, making the conversation not only useful but also interesting," noted Margarita Ushakova.
In an open dialogue format, the lecturer detailed her daily work: how she receives and considers family appeals, helps resolve difficult situations, protects children's rights in courts and guardianship authorities, and interacts with relevant ministries for systematic problem-solving.
The lecturer from the Society "Knowledge" paid special attention to the safe and beneficial start of the summer holidays. She reminded about the importance of proper leisure organization, prevention of child injuries, adherence to behavior rules on water and in the forest, as well as opportunities for temporary employment for teenagers. The speaker noted that holidays can be an opportunity not only for entertainment but also for personal growth.
In addition, Margarita Ushakova presented key initiatives of the Children's Public Council under the Commissioner for Children's Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
During the meeting, participants also discussed issues related to instilling a sense of responsibility for their country in teenagers, forming patriotism and civic identity.
Particular attention was paid to translating patriotic feelings from abstract concepts into specific everyday actions. Participants were told how responsibility for the Motherland manifests in practice, and the children shared their personal associations with the concept of "patriotism." Examples included participation in the "Immortal Regiment" action, explaining to a child the role of taxes in improving the neighborhood, separate waste collection, and joint analysis of election programs. They also touched on modern forms of participation in society that interest teenagers: from environmental actions to volunteer projects and youth movements.
The event was organized as part of the national project "Youth and Children."
Let us remind you that the Russian Society "Knowledge" has opened a new season of the All-Russian Parents' Living Room. This large-scale project is being implemented by the Federal Teen Center in collaboration with the Society "Knowledge" with the support of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Commissioner for Children's Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova. The project's goal is to help parents better understand the peculiarities of adolescence and find new ways to strengthen relationships with their children.
