The swimming season has opened in Nizhny Novgorod: list of beaches
June 1, 2026 10:12 Culture and Recreation The swimming season officially started in Nizhny Novgorod on June 1. City beaches and recreation areas will operate until the end of summer, the city administration's beautification department reported. Before opening, the areas were tidied up. Divers inspected and cleaned the bottom, and fresh sand was brought to the shore. Trash bins, toilets, and information boards were installed on the beaches, changing cabins, benches, and canopies were updated. Children's playgrounds and lifeguard posts were repaired, and garbage was removed from adjacent areas. Four beach zones have been opened in the Avtozavodsky district. Two beaches are located in Avtozavodsky Park on Lake Parkovoe, first and second stages, and two more recreation areas operate on the Oka River along Fuchika Street and on Lake Permyakovsky. In the Kanavinsky district, four areas have been prepared. Three beaches are located on Lake Bolnichnoye near Hospital No. 39, as well as on Sorting Lake on Arkhangelskaya Street and in the "Birch Grove" of the Sorting microdistrict. Another recreation area is equipped on Meshcherskoye Lake. In the Kstovsky district, one recreation area is available on the Kudya River in the quarry of the "Vishenki" microdistrict on Nagorny Lane. In the Leninsky district, three sites are operational. Two beaches are located on Silikatnoye Lake near houses No. 19B and No. 23 on Lenin Avenue, and a recreation area is on the Oka River in the 25th Anniversary of October backwater. In the Nizhny Novgorod district, a recreation area is open on the Volga River on the embankment of the Rowing Canal. In the Prioksky district, a beach is functioning on Lake No. 1 of Shchelokovsky Khutor. In the Soviet district, a beach on Lake No. 3 and a recreation area on Lake No. 2 of Shchelokovsky Khutor are available. In the Sormovsky district, four beaches have been prepared on Lakes Pestichnoye, Lunskoe, and Svetloyarskoye, including sections on Mokrousova and Gaugelia Streets.
