Nizhny Novgorod region ranked 31st in terms of family welfare.

      June 1, 2026 09:55 Economy The Nizhny Novgorod region ranked 31st in the rating of Russian regions by the level of family well-being based on the results of 2025. The study was prepared by experts from the Center for Economic Research "RIA Rating." The research was based on the assessment of the potentially possible remaining cash balance of a family after mandatory minimum expenses. To calculate, two net median salaries were summed without taking into account personal income tax, after which regional minimum living standards were deducted considering the family composition. Additionally, the indicator was adjusted taking into account the consumer basket in each subject to ensure comparability of data between regions with different price levels. The calculations used minimum living standards for the working-age population and children based on Rosstat data. The list was topped by the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs, as well as the Magadan region. At the end of the ranking were Ingushetia, Chechnya, and Kabardino-Balkaria. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, the potential monthly balance of funds for a family with two children in 2025 amounted to 42,954 rubles. For a family with one child, this figure reached 61,214 rubles. Experts note that the financial situation of families remains one of the most sensitive indicators of economic development. At the same time, the differences between regions in terms of well-being are still significant, and there is currently no pronounced trend towards reducing the gap.
