Almost 12 thousand patients were treated at the Balakhna Central District Hospital oncology center in 2025.

      On June 1, 2026, 17:25 Society Almost 12 thousand patients were received by the Outpatient Oncology Care Center (OACC) of the Balakhna Central District Hospital in 2025. According to the results of the first quarter of this year, more than 3.2 thousand people have already turned to the department. This was reported by the NNIKO "Nizhny Novgorod Regional Clinical Oncology Dispensary."

      The OACC was established on the basis of the Balakhna Central District Hospital in 2021. It serves patients from the Balakhna and Chkalov districts - a total of more than 72 thousand residents of the region are attached to the institution.

      There are 12 outpatient oncology care centers operating in the Nizhny Novgorod region. They carry out continuous work within the framework of the program "Fight against oncological diseases" of the national project "Long and Active Life."

      According to the acting chief physician of the Balakhna Central District Hospital, Oleg Chernov, in 2024, 63.3% of new cases of oncological diseases in the Center were detected at early stages. In the first quarter of 2025, the positive dynamics continued: out of 97 identified cases, the majority were diagnosed at a stage when treatment is most effective.

      The day hospital of the OACC, designed for nine beds, exceeded planned indicators by almost 36% in 2024. Approximately 120 patients receive modern anti-tumor drug therapy here every month. Targeted drugs and immunotherapy are available at the center, which previously required regular trips to the regional center.

      Last year, the diagnostic base of the Balakhna Central District Hospital allowed for more than 14 thousand ultrasound examinations, over 3 thousand mammograms, and about 3.5 thousand endoscopic examinations - gastroscopies and colonoscopies for oncology patients.
