A key change in the admissions campaign has been the direct dependence of targeted budget places on the needs of employers. Previously, universities were allocated generalized quotas, which often remained unclaimed, but now their volume is formed based on applications from companies and agencies. Overall, across the country, the number of places for targeted students has decreased from 120,000 in 2025 to 83,000 in 2026. The most noticeable reduction occurred at Lobachevsky NNSU: this year the university received 185 targeted places compared to 531 the previous year. At the same time, as explained by Pavel Agrba, head of the career guidance and admissions department, last year, before the start of the proposal submission, only 154 places were secured for specific customers. PIMU also recorded a reduction - from 362 to 308 places. At the same time, enrollment increased in the fields of "Medical Prevention" and "Clinical Psychology." The Linguistic University has 53 targeted places. In the field of "Pedagogical Education," their number tripled, while in other specialties, quotas decreased. At NNGASU, 20 targeted places have been allocated for bachelor's and specialist programs, all of which are distributed to specific customers. An exception was NGTU named after Alexeev, where the total number of targeted places increased: 251 for bachelor's and 24 for master's programs. However, the reduction affected information and chemical fields, while quotas increased for the profiles of "Mechanical Engineering," "Design and Technological Support for Mechanical Engineering Production," and "Shipbuilding."
