      The head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has taken personal control of the criminal case regarding the damaged road in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Local residents have been unable to achieve repairs for years: even emergency services cannot pass on the dirt road. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      Residents of the villages of Yezhovo and Svobodnoye in the Nizhny Novgorod region have long complained about the terrible condition of the road: there is no asphalt, the dirt road is washed out after rains, and there are potholes and ruts everywhere. Even ambulances and fire trucks struggle to pass on such a road. People have repeatedly appealed to local authorities, but the situation has not changed. The Investigative Committee for the region has opened criminal cases on this matter four times — however, each time the prosecutor's office canceled them. Nevertheless, investigators have reopened the case to protect citizens' rights. Now the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has personally taken charge of the situation: he demanded a report from the head of the Nizhny Novgorod investigative department on the progress of the investigation and what is being done to restore normal road communication. The execution of the order has been taken under control at the central office of the agency.
