A resident of the Semyonovsky district was arrested for attempting to rape a girl.

      On May 28, 2026, at 17:50, Incidents: A 55-year-old man has been detained on charges of attempting to rape a minor in the Semyonovsky district. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      According to the investigation, the incident occurred in May in the working settlement of Sukhobezvodnoye. In the entrance of a multi-apartment building on Gorky Street, he grabbed a girl by the hand and attempted to forcibly drag her into his apartment, intending to commit a crime against her sexual integrity.

      He was unable to carry out his plan to completion as the child began to scream loudly. Relatives rushed out in response to the noise, after which the perpetrator could not continue his actions.

      A criminal case has been initiated against the man under part 3 of article 30, paragraph "b" of part 4 of article 131 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation for "attempted rape of a victim who has not reached the age of fourteen."

      The accused has admitted his guilt. The court has chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention. Investigators continue to work to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The progress and results of the investigation are under the control of the prosecutor's office.
