Pediatricians provided tips for assembling a first aid kit for traveling with children.
May 26, 2026 18:35 SocietyPlanning a trip with a child requires a special approach, and one of the key aspects is preparing a travel first aid kit. The National Institute of Child Health reminded that it is not necessary to take all the medications from the home first aid kit, but it is better to have essential emergency supplies on hand. Recommendations from specialists were provided by 360.ru.
The first aid kit should include antipyretic medications based on paracetamol or ibuprofen. It is advisable to have several forms of release: syrups for quick action and suppositories in case the child starts vomiting. Special attention should be paid to rehydration solutions, as children often encounter intestinal infections and dehydration during travels, which can develop rapidly. It is also recommended to take new generation antihistamines, even if the child has not had allergies before.
The travel kit should contain alcohol-free antiseptics, sterile bandages, and plasters of various sizes for treating minor injuries and abrasions. For those planning flights, doctors advise preparing vasoconstrictor nasal drops in advance, which will help reduce discomfort and pressure in the ears during takeoff and landing.
The first aid kit is your assistant, but it does not replace a qualified medical professional. If the child has a high fever that cannot be reduced by usual methods, has started uncontrollable vomiting, or has developed a strange rash, do not attempt to treat them yourself with all available means.
Many medications lose their effectiveness at temperatures above +25 degrees, so it is recommended to use a thermal bag or cooling container for storing medications during travel. Before the trip, it is important to check the expiration dates of all medications.
It is also worth considering that abroad, some familiar medications may only be sold by prescription. A pre-assembled first aid kit will help you feel calmer and more confident during your vacation.
