Nizhny Novgorod residents were warned about the temporary suspension of alcohol sales from Armenia.
May 23, 2026 12:05 Society The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) has identified low-quality alcoholic products from the Republic of Armenia in circulation. The sale of these goods in Russia has been suspended, the agency reported. Violations of mandatory requirements were found in the products of JSC "VEDI-ALKO," LLC "ABOVYAN COGNAC FACTORY," and LLC "Wine and Cognac House 'Shakhnazaryan'." The list includes "Ordinary varietal red semi-sweet wine 'GETAP VERNASHEN' (11%, 0.75 L, bottled on 03.02.2025)" and "Ordinary varietal white dry wine 'VEDI ALKO' KHARDJI, T3 'LEGENDS ARNI' (12%, 0.75 L, bottled on 17.12.2024)," produced by JSC "VEDI-ALKO." Non-compliance was also found in "Ordinary five-year-old cognac 'Armenian Cognac 5 Stars' (40%, 0.5 L, bottled on 20.01.2025)" produced by LLC "ABOVYAN COGNAC FACTORY" (Abovyan city). Also included in the list is "Branded aged Armenian cognac 'KV' seven-year-old 'SHAKHNAZARYAN HO' (40%, 0.5 L, bottled on 16.05.2025)," produced by LLC "Wine and Cognac House 'Shakhnazaryan'" (Egvard city). Trade organizations and importers have been notified of the need to suspend the sale of the specified products and withdraw them from circulation. The agency emphasized that the situation is under strict control. It was previously reported that alcohol consumption in the Nizhny Novgorod region decreased by 14.6% over the year.
