      May 22, 2026 14:52 Society The capital repair of the section of the R-158 Nizhny Novgorod - Saratov highway in the Dalenekonstantinovsky district is more than 70% complete. Work is ongoing from the 40th to the 46th kilometer, where the road is being widened to four lanes. As reported by the Federal State Institution "Volga-Vyatka Road Administration," the entire roadway is being completely renewed, a new drainage system is being installed, and at-grade turnarounds are being constructed. More than 60 specialists and about 30 units of equipment—rollers, excavators, graders, bulldozers, and loaders—are involved in the work. A strong foundation made of a gravel-sand mixture with geotextile is being laid for the new lanes. On the four kilometers where this stage has already been completed, preparations are being made to lay the lower and upper layers of the pavement made of gravel-mastic asphalt concrete with polymer additives. At the same time, bridges over the Miyanka, Tutovka, Modan, and Pukstery rivers are being repaired. Here, the bridge deck is being renewed, the surface is being changed, and local treatment facilities are being installed. A barrier fence will be installed along the axis of the highway to prevent vehicles from entering the oncoming lane. Transition-speed lanes with lighting are being created at the junctions with local roads. Turnaround loops are also being built at the 42nd kilometer near Kriush and at the 45th kilometer near the turn to Inyutino. During the work, there are restrictions in place: speed is reduced to 40-50 km/h, and there may be brief stops and reversible traffic.
