A rifle, pistol, bayonet knife, and cartridges were seized from a resident of the Vadsky district.

      On May 21, 2026, at 10:11, Incidents: A 51-year-old resident of the Sanatorium Bobylsky settlement in the Vadsky district was found to be in possession of a modified rifle and ammunition. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      In the man's carpentry workshop, police found and seized a .22 caliber rifle, 34 cartridges of the same caliber, a pneumatic pistol, and a military bayonet knife. At the suspect's home, police also seized a 16 mm cartridge, a 12 mm cartridge, and 26 construction cartridges stored in a glass jar.

      The man admitted his guilt. He had previously been convicted of hooliganism and poaching. According to him, several years ago he bought a pneumatic rifle with cartridges from an acquaintance during a joint drinking session, and then independently modified it into a combat weapon, which he stored in a utility room. The seller of the weapon has since died.

      An examination confirmed that the modified rifle is a firearm and suitable for shooting. The ammunition was also deemed suitable.

      Criminal cases have been initiated for the illegal manufacture and storage of weapons under Articles 223 (illegal manufacture of firearms) and 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, mailing, or carrying of weapons, essential parts of firearms, ammunition) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. They have been combined into one proceeding.

      The maximum penalty for the charges carries up to six years of imprisonment. The suspect has been placed under a travel restriction.
