A Nizhny Novgorod woman was sentenced for embezzling 2.4 million rubles from her brother, a participant in the Special Military Operation.

      On May 19, 2026, at 19:35, incidents occurred in the Varnavinsky District Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which sentenced a young woman in a case of large-scale fraud. This was reported by the united press service of the courts of general jurisdiction in the region.

      According to the court, from January to April 2024, as well as from April to September 2025, the woman embezzled money from the bank accounts of her brother, who is a participant in a special military operation.

      The investigation and the court established that she abused the trust of her relative and transferred more than 2.4 million rubles to herself. The woman disposed of the embezzled funds at her discretion.

      During the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted her guilt and expressed remorse.

      On May 15, 2026, the court found her guilty under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The woman was sentenced to three years of conditional imprisonment with a probation period of two years and six months.

      The court also ordered her not to change her place of residence without notifying the supervising authority and to register once a month.
