      Boarding trains by biometrics will be introduced on two more routes

      The biometric boarding service, launched in April 2025, is being tested on new routes. By summer, it will be available on the routes Nizhny Novgorod — Kirov and Nizhny Novgorod — Ivanovo. This was announced by Dmitry Grigorenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government and Head of the Government Apparatus of Russia, at the CIPR conference.

      Currently, biometrics is available on three routes: Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow — Ivanovo, and Moscow — Kostroma. At the same time, new routes are being tested: Nizhny Novgorod — Kirov and Nizhny Novgorod — Ivanovo. Their launch is planned for summer 2026.

      "Today, I familiarized myself with the operation of the system at the Nizhny Novgorod station. The entire procedure takes no more than 10 seconds, and presenting a passport is not required. A decision has already been made to scale the service to new routes. I would like to note that the use of biometrics is voluntary. In all user scenarios, it serves as an alternative method of obtaining services," Dmitry Grigorenko reported.

      To use the biometric boarding service, it is necessary to register in advance in the Unified Biometric System and provide consent for the processing of personal data.

      "Nizhny Novgorod is one of the first cities where traveling on the 'Lastochka' train for passengers has become available through biometrics. I am confident that over time, this service will become popular among Nizhny Novgorod residents and guests of our region on other routes of the Gorky Railway," noted the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin.
