AI will be connected to the fight against hogweed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

An agreement on the implementation of digital solutions was signed by the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Sberbank on May 18 at the "CIPR" conference (12+). The document was signed by the head of the relevant ministry, Nikolai Denisov, and the manager of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of Sberbank, Natalia Demina. According to Denisov, hogweed remains one of the most problematic crops for the region. To improve the effectiveness of the fight, objective data on the distribution of the plant is necessary. The implementation of AI will allow for the systematization of information, tracking dynamics, and building a more productive work strategy. The Ministry of Agriculture clarified that the destruction of hogweed is carried out regularly. In 2025, 700 hectares were treated in 19 municipalities at the expense of the regional budget. In 2026, it is planned to treat 1.2 thousand hectares of agricultural land. Work has already begun: over the course of a week, more than 118 hectares have been treated in the Pilninsky, Sosnovsky, Borsky, Pervomaysky, Sergachsky, and Gorodetsky districts.
