The prosecutor's office is investigating the circumstances of the death of a 13-year-old boy from Nizhny Novgorod at the lake.

      May 17, 2026 21:03 Incidents The prosecutor's office will monitor the establishment of the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager at a water body in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the agency.

      Recall that the tragedy occurred on May 17 at Lake Malibu in Volodarsk. Emergency Ministry employees retrieved the body of a 13-year-old boy from the water. According to preliminary data, the child attempted to swim across the water body but quickly disappeared underwater and later did not resurface.

      The Investigative Committee has initiated an investigation, and a procedural decision will be made based on its results. No signs of criminal bodily harm were found during the examination of the body. The cause of the schoolboy's death will be determined after the forensic examination.

      The district prosecutor visited the scene to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy. The agency is conducting a review of compliance with legislation on the prevention of juvenile neglect and offenses.
