The Investigative Committee organized an inspection following the death of a 13-year-old child at a lake in Nizhny Novgorod.

      On May 17, 2026, at 20:42, Incidents: A preliminary investigation has been organized following the death of a teenager at a water body in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region.

      Recall that the tragedy occurred on May 17 at Lake Malibu in Volodarsk. Emergency Ministry rescuers retrieved the body of a 13-year-old child from the water. According to preliminary information, the boy wanted to swim across the water body but quickly disappeared underwater and did not resurface.

      During the examination of the body, investigators did not find any signs of criminal bodily harm. The cause of the teenager's death will be determined with the help of a forensic examination.

      Currently, specialists are investigating the circumstances of the incident. Based on the results of the investigation, a procedural decision will be made.
