More than two thousand Nizhny Novgorod residents underwent sanatorium treatment in 2026.

      May 18, 2026 11:07 Society Since the beginning of the year, more than 2,460 residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region from privileged categories have been able to undergo treatment in sanatoriums through vouchers from the regional branch of the Social Fund. During this period, the SFR branch purchased 4,255 vouchers, of which 499 are intended for accompanying persons. More than 157 million rubles have been allocated for these purposes. The vouchers are provided to veterans of combat actions and the Great Patriotic War, people with disabilities, as well as those affected by radiation after the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster. Since the beginning of 2026, the SFR branch in the Nizhny Novgorod region has concluded 23 government contracts for sanatorium-resort treatment for beneficiaries who are on the waiting list for vouchers. Vouchers are selected based on the disease and disability category. Adults undergo treatment for 18 calendar days, children for 21 days, and people with consequences of spinal cord injuries for 24 days. Those who require sanatorium-resort treatment, including children with disabilities, are assigned monthly cash payments. To obtain a voucher, a medical certificate in the form 070/u must be provided. It confirms that treatment is indicated and there are no contraindications. Applications can be submitted through the government services portal or at the client service of the regional SFR branch. Sanatorium treatment and the journey to and from the place of rest are included in the set of social services. A voucher can only be obtained if the person has not refused the social package in kind or has retained the right to sanatorium-resort treatment. However, if the beneficiary chose a cash compensation instead of free travel, they will have to cover the travel expenses to the sanatorium and back themselves.
