A nasal spray with methadone was attempted to be smuggled to a woman from Nizhny Novgorod in a pre-trial detention center.

      On May 18, 2026, at 10:28, Incidents: Employees of the SIZO-2 discovered methadone in a nasal spray that was sent to the accused in the Kstovo district. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. A package addressed to the woman arrived at the detention center in the village of Druzhny, which included a bottle of nasal spray "SNUPE." The item attracted the attention of the staff, and inside was found a substance of blue color that had not yet dissolved. Thanks to the examination, it was established that the liquid contained methadone weighing 0.214 g. A criminal case has been initiated under part 2 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The transfer of narcotic substances to places of deprivation of liberty is classified as trafficking, and this crime is considered one of the most serious.
