A student from Nizhny Novgorod is facing criminal charges for dropping out.

May 16, 2026 09:50 Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, a technical college student became involved in a criminal case for illegal financial operations. The young man, wishing to earn some extra money, transferred funds from his bank card to specified accounts. He received instructions via a messenger app. This was reported by the press service of the city’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Criminal investigation officers found that in January of this year, a 17-year-old local resident began participating in illegal financial schemes. At the direction of an unknown person, with whom he communicated through a messenger, he transferred funds received into his account. For each such operation, the young man received a reward ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 rubles. The bank detected the illegal operations and blocked the card.

The police initiated a criminal case under part 4 of article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal circulation of payment means." This article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to two years. The young man is currently under a travel restriction.

The Nizhny Novgorod police remind citizens of the need to take precautions when using bank cards and online banking. It is important not to share your cards with third parties, not to provide access to personal online accounts, and not to carry out financial operations at the request of strangers. In case of an erroneous transfer, it is recommended to contact the bank immediately for correction.

Earlier, residents of Nizhny Novgorod were given advice on how not to become a "dropper" and protect their loved ones from this. Lawyer Yevgeny Gibadullin explained how to act when a transfer to oneself is blocked. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
