The Qualification Board of Judges (KKS) of the Nizhny Novgorod Region decided on May 14, 2026, to terminate the resignation of the regional court judge Viktor Fomin. This information appeared on the KKS website. According to the information, the resignation was decided to be terminated based on subparagraphs 2 and 4 of paragraph 6 of article 15 of the federal law on the status of judges. Subparagraphs 2 and 4 of the mentioned article refer to violations of prohibitions and restrictions and engaging in activities incompatible with the status of a judge. It should be added that a judge's resignation, in the sense of this law, is recognized as an honorable departure or honorable removal of a judge from office. The person who is in resignation retains the title of judge, guarantees of personal inviolability, and membership in the judicial community. It is worth noting that earlier, the Supreme Qualification Board of Judges refused to recommend Fomin for promotion. Documents regarding him were sent to the Prosecutor General's Office for filing an anti-corruption lawsuit and revoking his status as a judge. A total of 35 real estate properties and a BMW X6 were involved in the lawsuit. The total value of the assets exceeded 166 million rubles. Initially, it was planned that 52 properties would be seized from Fomin.
