The procedure for reviewing decisions of magistrate judges has changed in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
May 11, 2026 16:01 Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, a new procedure for reviewing the decisions of magistrate judges and appellate decisions of district courts in civil cases came into effect on May 10. This was reported by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court. The changes are related to Federal Law No. 79-FZ of April 9, 2026, which was adopted at the initiative of the Supreme Court of Russia. The document amends the Civil Procedure Code and the Code of Administrative Procedure. Now, court orders, decisions, and rulings of magistrate judges, as well as appellate decisions of district, inter-district, and city courts in the region, must be appealed to the presidium of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Court. Previously, such appeals were sent to the First Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction. A cassation appeal must be submitted through the court of first instance. It is required to transfer it along with the case to the regional court within three days. An appeal can be filed within three months from the date the decision comes into legal force. Appeals and submissions filed with the First Court of Cassation of General Jurisdiction before May 10, 2026, will be considered under the previous rules that were in effect at the time of their submission. It was previously reported that a vacancy for the chairman of the regional court has been opened in the region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
