More than 4,000 Nizhny Novgorod families have received maternity capital since the beginning of 2026.

      May 12, 2026 15:05 Society Since the beginning of 2026, more than 4,000 residents of Nizhny Novgorod have received certificates for maternity capital. This was reported by the press service of the Social Fund branch for the region. Since February 2026, the amount of maternity capital is 728,921.90 rubles for the first child born or adopted since 2020. When the second child is born, the family receives 963,243.17 rubles, if support for the first child was not previously provided (otherwise, the difference of 234,321.27 rubles is paid. — Ed. note). The certificate for maternity capital is automatically issued based on data from the registry office. Information about the right to receive and the current balance of funds is sent to the personal account on the State Services portal. The funds can be used to improve housing conditions, children's education, monthly payments until the age of three, forming a parent's cumulative pension, goods and services for the social adaptation of children with disabilities, as well as receiving a balance of up to 10,000 rubles in a lump sum. Money can be used for one or several purposes. Most often, they are directed towards housing, education, and monthly payments. Let us remind you that since July 2026, a project called "OSNOVA - Nizhny Novgorod Life Project" has been implemented in the region at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin. Within its framework, support measures "Parental Basic Income" and "Gift for Newborn" have been introduced. Taking into account the federal maternity capital and regional payments, total support for one child can reach 1 million rubles. Families have the right to choose the format of receiving funds - in a lump sum, monthly, or in a combined form. The project is being implemented as part of the national project "Family" and has become one of the key initiatives of the Family Five-Year Plan in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
