The house in the center of Nizhny Novgorod is being renovated before the launch of the metro shields.

      May 8, 2026 11:12 Society Repair and restoration work has begun at house No. 164 on Gorky Street before the launch of the tunnel boring machines. This is reported by the Telegram channel "MetroNN."

      The building is included in the list of facilities that are under geotechnical monitoring in the area of the metro extension. This requirement is stipulated in the project documentation, which received a positive conclusion from the State Expert Review.

      The need for repairs was determined based on the results of an inspection conducted two years ago. Experts found that the cracks on the facade had formed even before the start of the reconstruction of engineering networks on Ochar Street. To prevent their possible expansion during further metro construction, a special repair project was developed. It includes strengthening the foundation, eliminating possible voids, and subsequent repair of the cracks in the walls.

      The foundation reinforcement work is being carried out in stages. Specialists drill inclined wells along the foundation, then install injectors there for pumping cement slurry. After it hardens, the foundation becomes stronger and more stable.

      Upon completion of the reinforcement, restoration repairs will be carried out in the building, and the cracks will be eliminated. It is noted that conducting such activities is necessary to begin new tunnel boring from the dead ends behind the "Gorkovskaya" station, which is planned for the near future.
